2017 Retrospective and New Year’s Resolutions

As we all do it at the beginning of a new year, the time has come for us to look back on 2017 and make New Year’s resolutions for 2018.

It has been an incredible year for Thiga. Beyond the successful track record in Paris, we launched a massive undertaking for 2017 last January. Hugo and Alexandre, the 2 co-founders of Thiga had this crazy idea to expand the business in another city. They could have taken it easy and created a branch in another big city in France like Lyon or Bordeaux; or set up a subsidiary in a close European city like London or Amsterdam. But they actually decided to pick Sydney, Australia to set up their first branch abroad.

Apart from being 16,984 km away from Paris, Sydney and more globally, Australia is a land of so many great opportunities and good vibes. Hugo, Remi and myself, Anne-Laure, have been lucky enough to experience it twice in the last 7 years and we all instantly fell in love with this country. So starting up a branch of Thiga in Australia was more a treat than a challenge!

So here we were in October, starting Thiga Australia after a couple of months digging into the industry and the market opportunities in Australia. It has been an incredible beginning to what we hope will be a long adventure. Of course, we have had ups and downs, doubts and fears but overall we have been lucky enough to be very well welcomed, to receive very good advice and we were so glad to see how supportive the community is here!

The business is now all set up, we have had started our first UX Design contract in a beautiful startup business in the fashion industry, full of smart and nice people. The team is also planning to grow with 2 new employees joining the team.

This would not have been possible without the involvement of everyone and the support of the French team of course! So thank you very much everyone 🙂

We look forward to continuing to learn, meet new people and grow in 2018. We wish you a Happy New Year!
